Aero Bed Air Mattress

Recently, I was in a Costco last week and saw the new Aero bed air mattress already on the shelf. Now that spring coming soon in the US, many retailers are starting to sell items like lawn / garden stuff and other summer things. The new Aero air beds that Costco has, are mostly for camping but you can use them in your home too or anywhere you need a place to sleep for that matter. I didn’t look at the model numbers but the one that was inflated was not as tall as the model they carried last year. AeroBed has been around 1992.

Last year Costco carried the Intex air beds which have a dual chamber (upper and lower) mattress like a box spring and mattress only both are air filled. This is the one I bought. It has an electric pump that used 110AC, not to handy for the “open trail” while camping. Intex has been around a long time and manufactures all kinds of inflatable products (e.g. air mattresses, pools, pool toys, etc). I believe either company makes a quality product. I have not found many complaints online for either.

As mentioned above AeroBed started in 1992 and was mostly marketed through television shopping networks and catalog sales. They originated the quick inflate and deflate features not previously found in raised air beds. They marketed the 60 second inflate with an integral pump and a 15 second deflate time with a large valve that opened and the air would whoosh-out. For its time, they had the best air bed mattress on the market and saw quick growth into the late 90’s. By 2001 they made the raised aero bed was introduced to the public. By this time they were available at retailers all over the country. Aero beds continue to improve their models with hand controls to modify the firmness or comfort of the mattress. Their use of stronger, lighter weight materials to help with longevity.

Now comparing the two companies, you need to find what is best for your needs and buy accordingly. Many places online and at places like Costco offer air mattress for almost any situation. If you go to Aero’s site here, you can find a wide range of beds for camping, travel, indoor, outdoor, beds with 24 inch high headboard, kids air beds, and all kinds of accessories. The areo bed queen, twin, and childrens beds are available under $100. Shopping places like local retailers, or online at Amazon or eBay offer hundreds of choices.
